We require consent from a parent or guardian before we collect personal information from children under 13 years of age. Personal information is only collected from a child under thirteen years of age after a parent or guardian has provided permission to the child’s teacher or school administrator for the child to access the Mastery Portfolio Services. By granting permission and allowing your child to log on to the Services you are consenting to the collection, use and disclosure of your child’s personal information as provided herein. Your child is not permitted to use the Services without your direct consent and guidance. We require that you assist your child in using the Services so that you may monitor the personal information that they are disclosing.
Your child’s teacher or school administrator has provided Mastery Portfolio with your child’s name, account information, school record information and other similar information in order to use the Mastery Portfolio platform to manage your child’s records.
If your child logs on and accesses their Mastery Portfolio account, they may use the Services to send direct messages to their teachers or other administrators. The content of messages your child sends is in their sole discretion and we recommend you inform your child about the type of information they should be sharing with their teachers. If your child is accessing the platform on a mobile device, your child may also choose to provide location data.
Mastery Portfolio collects such information only insofar as is necessary to grant your child access to the Mastery Portfolio features and services.
If you believe your child may have submitted personal information to Mastery Portfolio without your permission or consent, please contact us via email at firstname.lastname@example.org and we will delete the information.
Your child may have the option to post or upload additional information, such as videos, photos or other content (“User Content”) to publicly available portions of the Services. User Content your child posts on a public forum or makes publicly available will be available to other users of the Website and may be retrievable by third party search engines. Third parties may also be able to download or share your User Content to social media sites such as Facebook, Pinterest, Twitter, Google+ as well as via email. You are required to directly approve any information that your child uploads to publicly available portions of the Services. Aside from your child’s image in a photograph or video, your child is not permitted to post any personal information on publicly available portions of the Services.
Like most website operators, Mastery Portfolio collects non-personally-identifying information of the sort that web browsers and servers typically make available, such as the browser type, language preference, referring site, and the date and time of each visitor request. Mastery Portfolio ’s purpose in collecting non-personally identifying information is to better understand how Mastery Portfolio ’s visitors use its Services. From time to time, Mastery Portfolio may release non-personally-identifying information in the aggregate, e.g., by publishing a report on trends in the usage of its Website. Mastery Portfolio also collects potentially personally-identifying information like Internet Protocol (IP) addresses and may collect statistics about the behavior of visitors to the Website. For instance, Mastery Portfolio may monitor the Website to help identify spam.
Mastery Portfolio will use the personal information your child submits to us to provide your child full access and functionality of the Services. Accordingly, personal information may be used for the following purposes: (i) to provide and improve our services, features and content; (ii) to administer your child’s use of our services and accounts; (iii) to enable users to enjoy and easily navigate the Services; (iv) to better understand your needs and interests; (v) to fulfill requests you may make; (vi) to personalize your experience; (vii) to provide you with announcements, notifications related to your use of the Services and other communications such as electronic newsletters, promotional e-mails or similar messaging; (viii) to provide service announcements; (ix) to protect against users seeking to hack into the Services; and (x) to assess the level of general interest in the Services and specific information included in the Services.
Except as provided elsewhere in this policy Mastery Portfolio will not disclose your child’s personal information to third parties outside of Mastery Portfolio and its service providers, affiliates, vendors and business partners unless Mastery Portfolio has the good faith belief that disclosure is reasonably necessary to: (i) cooperate with law enforcement authorities or comply with legal process served on Mastery Portfolio or the Services; (ii) protect the property and rights of Mastery Portfolio , its affiliates or a third party; (iii) protect the safety of the public or any person; (iv) prevent or stop any activity we may consider to be, or to pose a risk of being, illegal, unethical, inappropriate or legally actionable; (v) complete, as permitted by law, a business sale, asset transfer, merger, acquisition or reorganization; or (vi) fix or debug problems with the Services, servers, software or service.
If Mastery Portfolio discloses your child’s personal information pursuant to one of the above-mentioned conditions, it will do so only to the extent necessary.
You have the option to agree to the collection and use of your child's information without consenting to the disclosure of the information to third parties.
Please contact us as at email@example.com if you would like to access the information that we have collected from your child. You may have the right to correct factual errors in such information, request to have information deleted or request that we no longer collect or maintain such information. The deletion of data may prevent Mastery Portfolio from providing requested services.
Please be sure to include your email address and a telephone number where we can reach you in any request to access or delete information. To protect you and your child’s privacy and security, we will take reasonable steps to verify your identity before granting you access to the personal information that we collect and maintain about you or your child.
